CODE OF ETHICS.

ALL PRACTICES OFFERED AT MADRE ARE BEING TAUGHT WITH OUR COMMUNITY, STUDENTS AND SOCIETY IN MIND. WE ASPIRE TO TEACH IN A WAY THAT IS ACCESSIBLE AND COMPASSIONATE TO ALL, ACTING WITH INTEGRITY AND AVOIDING CAUSING ANY DIRECT OR INDIRECT HARM. 

WE ARE NOT PERFECT AND WE WILL ALWAYS BE STUDENTS OURSELVES, EVEN IN THE ROLE AS TEACHERS. WHAT THAT MEANS TO US IS THAT WE CONTINUE TO LEARN, PRACTICE AND DEVELOP OUR OWN UNDERSTANDING OF WHAT IT MEANS TO BE OF SERVICE. WE WILL TEACH WHAT WE KNOW AND WITH HUMILITY BE OPEN ABOUT WHAT WE DON’T KNOW OR WHAT WE CAN IMPROVE ON.

OUR TEAM AS WELL AS ANY GUEST TEACHERS OR PRACTITIONERS WILL BE ASKED TO AGREE AND ADHERE TO THE FOLLOWING GUIDING ETHICAL PRINCIPLES. WE ASPIRE TO UPHOLD THEM TO THE BEST OF OUR ABILITY FOR THE LONG-TERM BENEFIT OF OURSELVES AND THE COMMUNITIES WE TEACH.

  1. WE CONDUCT OURSELVES IN A PROFESSIONAL AND CONSCIENTIOUS MANNER AT ALL TIMES, ACKNOWLEDGING THE LIMITATIONS OF OUR SKILLS AND SCOPE OF PRACTICE. WHERE APPROPRIATE, WE MAY REFER STUDENTS TO SEEK ALTERNATIVE INSTRUCTION, ADVICE, TREATMENT OR DIRECTION.

  2. WE CREATE AND MAINTAIN A SAFE, CLEAN AND COMFORTABLE ENVIRONMENT FOR THE DIFFERENT PRACTICES THAT WE OFFER ALWAYS RESPECTING AND ACKNOWLEDGING THE TEACHINGS, LINEAGES AND CULTURES THEY ORIGINATE FROM. 

  3. WE ENCOURAGE DIVERSITY ACTIVELY BY RESPECTING ALL STUDENTS, REGARDLESS OF AGE, PHYSICAL LIMITATIONS, RACE, CREED, GENDER, ETHNICITY, RELIGIOUS AFFILIATION, OR SEXUAL ORIENTATION. WE RESPECT THE RIGHTS, DIGNITY, AND PRIVACY OF ALL STUDENTS.

  4. WE AVOID WORDS AND ACTIONS THAT CONSTITUTE BULLYING, AGEISM, HOMOPHOBIA, RACISM AND/OR SEXUAL HARASSMENT.
